Three Killed, One Injured in Accident Along Masaka-Kampala Highway

In Mpigi yesterday night, around 11:40 pm on April 17, 2024, three people perishihed in a fatal accident at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp along the Masaka-Kampala highway.

The crash occurred in Kamengo, when two motor vehicles collided, namely M/V UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso and UBH 247L Subaru Forester.

According to the preliminary report, the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions before the unfortunate head-on collision. The Mitsubishi Fuso was heading from Kampala towards Masaka when it collided with  Subaru Forester, which was traveling from Masaka to Kampala.

Kananura Micheal, the Traffic Police Spokesman says the collision resulted in the instant death of three occupants in the Subaru Forester, including the driver. Additionally, one other passenger in the same car sustained critical injuries and was transported to Double Cure in Mpigi for medical attention.

He says, the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Gombe Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Both motor vehicles involved in the accident were towed to Kamengo Police Station pending inspection by authorities.

This incident comes just hours after another fatal crash occurred in Entebbe, Wakiso District on Wednesday morning, claiming one life.

The accident happened when a fully loaded cement truck lost control while trying to veer off the road but instead landed on a white Mutshibishi car awaiting the traffic lights signal.

Police identified the deceased as Okoit Rapael, a 34-year-old lawyer from Maldes Advocates, residing in Seeta, Mukono District.
