King Caesar Mulenga, the Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Uganda, fulfilled his pledge by delivering UGX 250 million to cover the cost of all windows for the new All Saints Cathedral Nakasero.

Mulenga pledged this amount during the 50th wedding anniversary of former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and Canon Jacqueline Mbabazi, which took place at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero.

He confirmed the fulfillment of his pledge on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, via his official X handle (formerly Twitter).

“As Rt Hon Amama and Canon Jacqueline Mbabazi celebrated 50 years in marriage, I pledged to contribute UGX 250 million towards the purchase of all windows of the new All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero. Yesterday, I delivered my pledge to the construction committee,” King Mulenga stated.

The fundraising campaign, initiated and led by the Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, appealed to individuals to contribute towards completing the cathedral.

In response to Kazimba’s appeal, Thomas Tayebwe, the Deputy Speaker of the 11th Parliament, pledged UGX 53 million, while Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, pledged UGX 10 million.

Mulenga praised Kazimba for conducting an effective campaign and Amama Mbabazi for leading the mobilization efforts. According to the cathedral construction committee, over UGX 10 billion is needed to complete the project.

All Saints Cathedral, located in Nakasero, Kampala City, has been receiving contributions from various well-wishers, including prominent politicians, religious leaders, and members of the Christian community, to facilitate the ongoing construction activities at the site.
