Kabale Police Arrest Three More Thugs Linked to Criminal Activities

Police in Kabale have arrested three suspected criminals who were part of a gang responsible for recent acts of terror in Kabale municipality.

The arrests came following intelligence information based operation by police officers and cooperation from vigilant citizens.

The suspects include; Turyatunga Ponsius, also known as Poshi, hailing from Kekubo cell in Kirigime ward Southern division, he was captured after locals provided a crucial tip-off. Poshi is believed to have been leading the group operating in Kekubo and its environs.

Another suspect Norman Owomugisha, alias Nyarukwisi, is accused of terrorizing Butobere and nearby areas, Didas Mugambajje, known as Romeco, was apprehended in Nyakiharo cell, Mwanjari ward, Southern division. Mugambajje was found armed with a machete, indicating potential violent intentions at the time of his arrest.

ASP Elly Maate, spokesman for Kigezi Regional Police says the three suspects will be brought before the courts of law to face charges once investigations are completed. They will join others already in custody, awaiting trial at Ndorwa prison.

Maate commended the vigilance of the local community and their collaboration with law enforcement, which led to the successful arrest of these criminals. He emphasized that operations against such individuals will persist until total peace is restored in the region.
