You Can’t Stand Four Times and Claim Democracy Isn’t Working – Bobi Tells Besigye
Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has castigated Dr Kizza Besigye for claiming that there is no democracy in Uganda yet he has contested for the presidency four times.
Mr Kyagulanyi also launched a veiled attack on Dr Besigye whom he accused of being scared of losing his status as the strongest opposition leader in the country.
“For a leader to say a vote can never oust Museveni without offering a solution is disappointing… Don’t talk about democracy and stand four times and on the fifth time you say it doesn’t work, we believe it works. We continue to call Ugandans to register as voters and be many. The power of people has prevailed in Kyadondo East, Bugiri, Rukungiri, Arua and we believe it will prevail in the whole Uganda in 2021,” Bobi Wine stated as his colleagues acknowledged with loud cheers.
This was at Hotel Africana in Kampala where Opposition parties Social Democratic Party (SDP), Justice Forum (JEEMA), and Democratic Party (DP) launched a new opposition bloc dubbed ‘Democratic Party bloc’.
Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu was also present at the meeting attended by Norbert Mao, Asuman Basalirwa, Michael Mabiike among others.
Bobi Wine who has been advocating for citizens to get national IDs for the general elections lambasted Kizza Besigye for stating that the ballot will not work against President Museveni.

Similarly, Abed Bwanika urged Besigye ‘to step aside’ and give way for the new king, Robert Kyagulanyi.
“The wisdom for this season is working together. I am not sure I like Hon. Mao or Hon. Kyagulanyi but I am going to work with them because it is the right thing to do. Not all of us can be leaders at a go. I have not lost my vision and ambition to be president of Uganda but when it necessitates me to stand on the side, for another person to lead us as we remove Museveni, I’ll do that,” Bwanika said.
SDP leader Micheal Mabiike asked Besigye to implement his idea of change.
“A message to those saying Museveni is going before 2021: How are you going to achieve this without rallying the people of Uganda together? Besigye failed to cause change when FDC was one party, now it’s divided into two,” Mabike said.
Asuman Basilirwa, Norbert Mao and Mugisha Muntu urged opposition leaders to unite. They noted that a divided opposition will be weaker against the incumbent in 2021 elections.
“We recognize that we have to work with other pro-change forces because we recognize the challenges of our time even beyond president Museveni, to some of us, he is already history,” Gen Muntu noted.
