Woman Stabs Self with Knife, Attempts to Kill Nephew

Police have launched investigations into a suspected suicide and attempted murder incident that occurred at Nakigalala cell, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

The deceased, identified as Namaganda Olivia, was a resident of the area. The victim’s name is withheld as they are still a minor.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman,Patrick Onyango,the incident happened on May 23, 2024, around 9:00 PM,when received a distress call from members of the community.

On that fateful day, locals found Namaganda lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts to her neck, inflicted using a knife.

Initial findings suggest that Namaganda, a bar attendant who had been living with her sister Natasha for only two weeks, attempted to kill the sister’s son before taking her own life under unclear circumstances.

Onyango says Namaganda was found with two cut wounds, one on the neck and another on the breast and a knife believed to have been used in the attempted murder was recovered.

Namaganda stabbed the victim on the neck, but locals rushed to Doctor’s Hospital in critical condition for treatment.

The motive behind Namaganda’s actions is yet to be determined as inquiries into the matter continue.

Locals in the area expressed shock and disbelief at the tragic incident, but were unable to establish what caused the incident since Namaganda had only stayed for two weeks in the area.

They are demanding for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Namaganda’s death and the attempted murder.
