Vybz Kartel Considers Treatment After Graves’ Disease Diagnosis
Vybz Kartel, the renowned Jamaican dancehall artist, has revealed that St. Vincent (SVG) is among the locations he is considering for potential treatment. Kartel has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, a condition that affects the thyroid gland.
In a recent interview with a Jamaican TV station, Kartel remarked, “Well, they said it’s called Graves’ disease, but we’re not ready for the grave. So, we’ll just call it hyperthyroidism.”
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes the thyroid gland to produce an excess of thyroid hormones, a condition known as hyperthyroidism. While anyone can develop Graves’ disease, it is more common in women and typically affects individuals over the age of 30.
Treatment for Graves’ disease focuses on reducing the production of thyroid hormones and alleviating the associated symptoms.
