Violent Money lender bites off customer’s ear over UGX 200 Debt
Police in Masindi are looking for a local money lender accused of biting off his customer over a debt of shillings 200.
The victim, David Muhumuza, 17, is currently hospitalized and nursing serious injuries at Kabalega medical center in Masindi town.
Muhumuza was harmed by Tugume, a local money collector owning a video hall in Kibaale village, Miirya sub-county in Masindi district.
Trouble started on Sunday when Tugume permitted Muhumuza to watch a movie from his local video hall at at 200 shillings credit.
Muhumuza promised to pay the money the next day but he never showed until evening when Tugume confronted him at home. Tugume demanded the money but he refused, causing the ear to be cut off.
He later took off to an unknown destination after committing the crime, leaving his victim bleeding from the right ear.
Muhumuza says he pleaded with Tugume to forgive him in vain.
Vigro Musinguzi, the area Defense Secretary says the suspect immediately vanished from the village after committing the crime adding that they have teamed up with the police to hunt for him.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that the hunt for the suspect has commenced.
