One of the bush-war fighters that participated in the final war that captured Kampala, Maj Gen Kasirye Ggwanga is dead.

Gen Ggwanga was first admitted in April to the UPDF Senior Officers Diagnostic Centre based in Mbuya where doctors were taking care of him before he was referred to another hospital.

Following his admission to the hospital, there was speculation that he had been arrested.

This prompted the UPDF spokesman Brig Richard Karemire to clarify.

“Doctors are taking care of him and there is no reason to speculate on his current whereabouts. He is not under any form of arrest,” Karemire stated then.

Karemire’s clarification followed reports on social media that Kasirye had been arrested following his alleged beating of locals in Mityana who had defied President Museveni’s directives over COVID-19.
