ADF Headquarters at Kambi ya Yua Fall to Joint UPDF, FARDC Forces
The UPDF together with their Congolese counterparts FARDC forces have Wednesday entered Kambi ya Yua which has been ADF’s main camp
“Kambi ya Yua was the main camp and headquarters of ADF,” a source involved in the operations told online publication Kampala Post.
The security source reportedly added: “It took us a two-day trek through impenetrable jungle vegetation to reach it. Operations continue to secure the entire camp. Kambi ya Yua is a large complex of camps.”
This comes after Brig Flavia Byekwaso who is the UPDF spokesperson said that the Joint forces had launched artillery and airstrikes on more ADF camps.
“…the Joint forces advanced to “contact” at objective KAMBIYAYU. 3 additional enemy positions were targeted by air & artillery strikes. The ground forces are also engaging the enemy in the same area,” Brig Byekwaso said last evening.
Last month, the joint pursuit for the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Congolese military commenced.
Initially, four ADF camps were overrun by the joint forces with the pounding of four ADF camps at Nobili, Kamango, and Watalinga in North Kivu Province of eastern Congo
The ADF terrorist group is now officially affiliated with the Islamic State terror group that claimed twin blasts in Kampala recently.
Following the most recent attacks on Uganda, President Museveni said he was working with the neighbors to deal with those (terrorists) operating from outside.
“They have exposed themselves when we are more ready for urban terrorism. They will perish,” Mr. Museveni said in a statement.
