UPDF investigates senior officer over misconduct
The UPDF is investigating a senior officer over conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, according to the spokesman Brig Richard Karemire.
Brig Karemire tweeted early Wednesday morning after Daily Monitor newspaper published a story claiming that one of its officers is imprisoned for allegedly spying for the Republic of Rwanda.
“This is false. The said Colonel is not under custody but is being investigated for conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline,” Brig Karemire noted.
Under Section 66 of the UPDF Act, the offense of conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline is broadly defined as “any act, conduct, disorder or neglect to the prejudice of good order and discipline of the army.”
A person convicted under the provision “shall be liable to dismissal with disgrace…”
