UPDF Confirms Release of Nadduli ‘s Family Members

Security forces have in a twist of events released ten suspects related to the former Minister Without Portfolio, Abdul Nadduli, who were arrested on Tuesday.

The Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Brigadier Gen Felix Kulayigye  confirmed the release of the suspects.

The suspects released the same Tuesday evening were arrested  at the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for a few hours,  for reportedly possessing a gun  stolen from Busiika Police Station, during a recent raid.

They include; Sulaiman Nadduli, the imam of Masjid Fatuma Shamisi Kalege, Yusuf Jakana, Issa Gabindadde, Lubulwa Muhamadi, Kassim Kyanjo, Isma Ssenkubuge, Jamadah Mugga, Rehema Nakungu, and Mwamin Nalubulwa,  all residents of Kalege village in Semuto sub county, Nakaseke district.

Ashraf Bukenya Matumbwe, the LC 1 Chairperson of Kalege village, says that security operatives drove the suspects to their homes at around 7 pm Tuesday.

He says that the suspects were in good health, which excited their family.

Alhajji Abdul Nadduli says Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo, the Deputy Chief of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence told him that they were misled by one of his relatives that the suspects, had a gun which they never found.

According to Nadduli, upon interrogating the source, the security officers found that he may have a mental illness, which prompted Rugumayo to order the immediate release of the suspects.
