UPDF Advises Muslim Community on Countering Extremism
The call was made by the Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation of Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces.
The Muslim Community has been called upon to join efforts to fight against extremists and elements that want to spoil the good name of Islam, yet the Islamic religion is known for advocating peace for all the people.
The call was made by the Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation of Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Colonel Sam Ntambirwe, on 9th April 2024 while delivering an assortment of donations from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Headquarters, Old Kampala.
“It’s sad that there are some extremists and terrorists who want to come and hide under the cover of Islam and to portray the Muslim faith as hostile, threatening and dangerous,” said Col Ntambirwe.
He commended the Muslim leadership for spreading the President’s gospel of peace and Unity, a solution to Uganda’s problems.
The Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Hajj Abbas Muluubya Sekyanzi, thanked the UPDF for the good sacrificial work to ensure peace for all Ugandans.
