UPC President Akena Leads Campaign for Candidate Aguti in Dokolo District

Uganda People’s Congress party President Jimmy Akena traversed Dokolo, canvassing support for the party’s flag bearer, Ms. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori.

On Thursday, Akena, accompanied by other party leaders, campaigned in Bata Town Council and Okwalongwen Sub-County on the second day of their campaign.

Akena urged the electorate and all people of Dokolo District to rally behind the UPC candidate, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori. He emphasized that the party will remain on the ground until the last vote is cast, counted, and declared, rejecting any plans of vote rigging to ensure the voice of the people is heard without interference.

In her remarks, Aguti pledged to address the welfare of her constituents and deliver essential services to the people of Dokolo. She expressed her commitment to transforming the lives of communities and the country through initiatives focusing on agriculture, markets, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

Two UPC-leaning aspirants withdrew their candidacy in favor of Nyangkori to replace the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, who passed away on January 18, 2024, due to a cancer-related illness. Ogwal was laid to rest at Alito Town Council in Kole District on January 27, 2024.

The Electoral Commission has set March 21, 2024, as the polling date.
