The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned the public against getting involved in acts of malpractice by sharing examination material.

UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule said on Monday morning that several arrests have been made in connection to malpractice since the Uganda Certificate Examinations commenced on October 16.

Kalule paid special attention to unauthorized possession of any material said to be from Uneb.  She explained that keeping such material on a phone, computer or even possessing physical papers is an offence.

She further explained that sharing of these materials is also a crime that can earn an individual up to 5 years in jail or a fine worth 20 million shillings under the amended Uneb 2021 Act.

“Whether you get it via WhatsApp or any other social media platform, once you get it kindly delete it but don’t share or forward it because once you do that you are engaging in malpractice or aiding and abetting malpractice which is also an offence.” she said

Kalule has urged members of the public to desist from sharing such material but instead contact relevant authorities at UNEB on 080011427 or report to police.

In the same breath, UNEB Executive Director, Dan Nikorach, urged students not to be deceived by people claiming to be having answers for the examinations. He also urged students and teachers to report any form of examination malpractice.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from digital sharing of any such content. Any other suspected cases of examination malpractice should be reported to police or UNEB,” Nikorach said
