The Ministry of Health has confirmed 23 new COVID-19 cases bringing the accumulated cases to 1000.

The 23 new cases are from the 3, 316 samples that were tested by the Ministry of Health.

Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services, out of the 23 confirmed cases, 12 are Ugandan nationals who returned from abroad; 8 from Afghanistan, 3 from DRC and 1 from South Sudan.

“They were under quarantine at the time of testing,” Dr Mwebesa said.

“To date, Uganda has registered a total of 908 COVID-19 recoveries including both Ugandans and non-Ugandans who were admitted here because they could not be repatriated immediately.”

Uganda has not recorded any COVID-19 related death.
