Airstrikes carried out by Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) troops killed over 31 al-Shabab terrorists and left 71 others with life-threatening injuries near the towns of Mishani-Beladamin.

The operation according to our sources was carried out on Wednesday, February 17.

Like it has been in most UPDF operations, none of the AMISOM UPDF soldiers incurred any injury or loss.

This operation follows another successful raid by UPDF troops on Al-Shabaab hideouts in January in which close to 200 terrorists were killed.

In the January operation, the UPDF in a series of targeted raids destroyed 02 mounted weapons “technical” and motorbikes in separate fire strikes. In Doncadaafeedow hide-out 7KM West of Janaale, the UPDF ground-aerial targets successfully disrupted an Alshabaab scheduled meetings and injured several.

According to sources in Somalia, over the last two months, following successful operations by UPDF troops against Al-Shabaab, relative calmness prevails, as most farmers conduct harvests in the Lower Shebelle region.
