Uganda Won’t be Trigger to the Escalation of Relations with Rwanda – CDF Muhoozi
The Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi has said that Uganda won’t be part of activities to escalate tensions with neighboring Rwanda.
Gen Muhoozi who was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of European Union envoys emphasized that although Kigali has deployed at the border, Uganda has not.
“That is why UPDF has taken a path of not deploying along the border with Rwanda even when we know that there are deployments on the other side (Rwanda),” said Gen Muhoozi.
The delegation of European Union Ambassadors was led by H.E Attilio Pacifici at the UPDF and Ministry of Defense Headquarters, Mbuya on Monday.
Gen Muhoozi who is the commander of the UPDF also noted that Uganda is not part of any anti-Rwanda dissident activity inside Uganda as claimed by the Rwandan government.
“To the best of my knowledge as the CDF and the commander of the UPDF, I am not aware of these activities with the blessing of the government of Uganda,” Gen Muhoozi said.
The meeting was also attended by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu, the UPDF spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire and the Director Strategic Communication and Defense Engagement Col Paddy Ankunda among others.
