The Uganda Red Cross Society members from all the 51 branches alongside invited guests gathered for their National Council meeting at the Red Cross headquarters in Kampala to reflect, plan and discuss strategies of advancing the humanitarian missions.
The meeting attracted partner national societies such as Australian Red Cross, German Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross and Netherlands Red Cross agreed to roll out the society’s 2026-2030 plan which focuses on accelerating sustainability, integrity, transparency and accountability guiding every decision.
During the meeting several companies, organizations and individuals were awarded accolades for their outstanding performance and good works towards service to humanity. Among those honoured was Next Media for it’s continued partnership and support towards the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Movit Products Limited was also honoured for the continued support to Uganda Red Cross during the National Youth Camp which took place at St. Mary’s Secondary School in 2025.

The keynote speaker Fred Yiga, while addressing delegates under the theme “from leadership to legacy” encouraged delegates to demonstrate resilience through challenges, commitment to service delivery beyond positions and leadership grounded on purpose and the importance of building systems that outlive individuals.
” Legacy beyond term limits is powerful in humanitarian work. Leadership is temporary but impact is permanent, institutions must therefore be strengthened and not personalized. True service continues even after titles end” Said Fred Yiga.
The Uganda Red Cross Secretary General, Robert Kwesiga presented the management report at the meeting highlighting key milestones, financial performance, program impact and strategic priorities of the year ahead and reaffirmed their commitment to accountability, growth and service excellence.
