Uganda Human Rights Commission – UHRC Chairperson Med Kaggwa has been confirmed dead.

Kaggwa who collapsed in his car on Wednesday morning was rushing to United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF offices, located along George street in the capital Kampala.

He was scheduled to attend a media round table discussion to mark the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Uganda is a signatory.

Kaggwa was supposed to be among the panelists.

Upon collapsing, he was rushed to Case Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Until the time of his death, Kaggwa had served as chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission for more than 8 years.
