Uganda Fortifies Diplomatic Ties with DRC as New Chancery Opens in Kinshasa
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba, has characterized the opening of a new chancery in Kinshasa as a pivotal moment in advancing Uganda’s relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mulimba emphasized that the new chancery signals the commencement of a fresh phase in Uganda’s diplomatic presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He expressed the potential for strengthened collaboration, deeper partnerships, and mutually beneficial outcomes for both nations.
Speaking at the official opening on Saturday, Mulimba highlighted the historical ties, rich natural resources, and shared destiny between the two countries. He urged seizing the opportunity to foster dialogue, nurture diplomacy, and devise innovative solutions for socio-economic transformation.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by President Yoweri Museveni and President Felix Tshisekedi, Mulimba commended the allocation of necessary funding by the Parliament’s foreign affairs committee for the project.
Uganda’s Ambassador to DRC, Farid Kaliisa, emphasized the new chancery as a symbol of enduring friendship, citing its significance beyond office space – a place fostering collaboration, idea exchange, and partnership building between Uganda and the DRC.
