Uganda Elected Vice President for Eastern Africa at 17th African Prosecutors Association Meeting

Uganda has been elected as the Vice President for Eastern Africa at the 17th African Prosecutors Association (APA) meeting held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The election marks a significant achievement for Uganda’s legal community on the continental stage.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lady Judge Jane Frances Abodo, led the Ugandan delegation at the high-profile event, accompanied by Mr. Lugada Abbey, Senior State Attorney (SSA), and Mr. Namuya Emmanuel, Resident State Prosecutor (RSSP). During the meeting, the DPP showcased Uganda’s commitment to advancing legal frameworks across the African continent.

In addition to her election as Vice President, Lady Judge Abodo participated in an international seminar that ran concurrently with the APA meeting. In her presentation, she addressed the critical issue of “The Right to a Healthy Environment,” highlighting Uganda’s efforts and perspectives on environmental justice and sustainable development.

The 17th APA meeting provided a platform for African prosecutors to discuss regional legal challenges and collaborate on strategies to strengthen judicial systems across the continent. Uganda’s new role as Vice President for Eastern Africa reflects the country’s growing influence in regional and international legal affairs.
