Mozambique enters the match with a strong record, having won four of their last five World Cup qualifying matches, aiming for a third consecutive victory in the qualifiers, a feat achieved only once before across the 2010 and 2014 editions. They have also been resilient at home, losing only two of their last 14 World Cup qualifying matches in Mozambique (7 wins, 5 draws).
