The Uganda Communications Commission hosted the inaugural Telecommunications CEO- Consumer Forum at Mestil Hotel in Kampala. This annual event is organised for sector CEOs to provide accountability for Quality of Service, network coverage, pricing and innovations. The gathering also brings together industry regulators, advocacy groups, and, most importantly, the consumers.
At the heart of the Telecommunication CEO-Consumer Forum is a commitment to bridging the gap between decision-makers and end users ensuring that critical issues like affordability, safety, privacy, and innovation are not just discussed but acted upon.
According to Sylvia Mulinge the CEO of MTN Uganda, “this is a pivotal moment for Uganda’s telecommunications landscape. It’s more than just a conversation; it’s about transparency, accountability, and real action to elevate service quality while strengthening consumer protection. A stronger, more inclusive telecom industry starts with conversations like these. The true measure of success will be the impact we create together.”
Mr. Sahu the Managing Director of Airtel Uganda explained in detail, innovations in Self-care, an Agile Network and how Airtel has progressively brought down the cost of communications in Uganda. He admitted that there is room for improvement by increasing the capacity of the network, creating awareness about latest technologies and transparency in operations.
