UAE Lifts Ban on Ugandan Flights
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted the ban it imposed on flights from Uganda over COVID-19, creating excitement among many Ugandans that do business and others seeking employment in the Middle East.
Dubai remains the top destination for travellers from Uganda and the Middle East accounts for 21% of all traffic from Entebbe International Airport.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Vianney Luggya confirmed the lifting of the suspension which he said was of immediate effect.
Luggya said Uganda Airlines and Emirates Airlines that have flights to Dubai had already made schedules to start flying by Saturday, January 8.
He stated that this is welcome news to all the travellers that had been affected by the suspension.
Luggya however said conditions will remain that all passengers will need PCR tests taken within 48 hours before boarding, another test hours before departure, and the third test on arrival.
“We are excited because this was the only route that had been suspended,” Luggya said.
