Two Women in Custody Over Theft of Government Iron Sheets
Two women, Nassaka Rose and Musoke Margaret, are currently in police custody at Entebbe Central post in connection with the theft of iron sheets belonging to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM)
The stolen items, totaling 214 pieces, were recovered during a police raid at a residence in Bufulu Zone, Nkumba, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District, following information received on August 13,2023.
Nassaka, 45, self-employed and residing in Bufulu Zone, and Musoke , 46, also self-employed and residing in the same area, were apprehended as suspects in the case. The iron sheets were identified as government property belonging to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says the duo were arrested after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID),at Kibuli completing their investigations.
He explains that the CID submitted the case file to the State Attorney for review and legal guidance and he recommended that the two suspects face charges in court. The charges include Receiving stolen property, under section 314(1) of the Penal Code Act, retaining stolen property, under section 314(2) of the Penal Code Act, Conspiracy to commit a felony, in accordance with section 390 of the Penal Code Act and Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, contrary to section 391 of the Penal Code Act.
He added that the suspects are scheduled to appear in Entebbe Court on January 11, 2024.
