The suspects include Mwesigye Innocent,16 a senior one student in stream “c” and his classmate Ayebare Amon,17 from senior one “A”.
The suspects are accused of dropping an anonymous letter on July 05, 2023 at the entrance of one of the classrooms indicating terror attacks on three schools including St Andrews and Kibingo primary schools and St Charles Lwanga High School.
The letter stated that ADF rebels would attack the schools with fire arms and kill people. Prior to the letter incident, the school had suspended three other students on July 04 2023, for alleged drug abuse and a senior one learner for threatening to burn down the school dormitory.
Fred Enanga, the Uganda police spokesperson says the Mwesigye and his accomplice hand wrote the letter with the aim of scaring the school administration for punishing them over acts of indiscipline. Enanga explains that the students had been reported by their dormitory captain and sentenced to disciplinary court the previous day.
“Both students admitted to having authored the anonymous letter. A task team also recovered an exercise book, where they plucked a page. It will be subjected, together with their specimen handwritings, to the handwriting expert for analysis. Making threats of violence or attack or use of firearms is not a joke, but a criminal act. ”
The police spokesperson says the two students will be arraigned in court for threatening violence and probably remanded to juvenile detention centre.
