The Turkish Embassy in Uganda, has extended a generous donation of Iftar packages to Muslim members of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) staff. The donation, which consisted of 250 food packages, was officially handed over to KCCA staff at the Mayor’s Parlor.
Each package included essential food items such as cooking oil, sugar, maize flour, wheat flour, and dates (ntende), aimed at supporting KCCA’s Muslim staff as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, KCCA Executive Director Hajati Sharifah Buzeki expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the donation.
“We are grateful for this support. We had requested the ambassador to assist us with an Iftar package, and they have fulfilled it. This gesture is highly appreciated and will go a long way in easing the fasting period for our Muslim brothers and sisters,” Buzeki said.
Ramazan Pehlivanoğlu, who represented the Turkish Ambassador, extended warm wishes to the Muslim community at KCCA. “We wish you a peaceful and fruitful Ramadan. May God bless you during this holy month,” he said.
The Director for Gender, Community Services and Production, Sheila Birungi, also commended the Turkish Embassy for their support. “This donation ensures that our Muslim staff can go through the Ramadan season with ease. We appreciate this kind gesture and pray for Allah’s blessings upon you,” Birungi said.
The Turkish Embassy has been a strong partner in supporting various initiatives within Kampala, and this latest donation further underscores their commitment to fostering goodwill and solidarity within the community.
The contribution also aligns with KCCA’s efforts to create an inclusive and enabling environment where people can worship freely and observe their religious practices with dignity.
