True Heroes of the Olympics: A Tribute to the Volunteers

My Paris 2024 Olympic experience is one I will always cherish. While I have seen countless reviews, articles, and short videos capturing the magic of the Olympics, today, I want to shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked stars of the show: the volunteers.

Arrival and First Impressions

It all started upon arrival at Charles de Gaulle. After a long journey, with one stopover before reaching our destination, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to navigating the usual airport clearance. But after clearing immigration, a group of ladies and gentlemen in green and blue striped apparel were waiting with warm smiles, ready to guide us through the accreditation process.

What a relief it was to discover that we could begin the accreditation process right there, conveniently stationed at the baggage claim area. The volunteer assigned to our family was an absolute delight, she made us feel so welcome.

His cheerful demeanor and genuine excitement at seeing us made us feel truly special. I also noticed that the volunteers tried to speak English, and though it wasn’t always perfect, their willingness to communicate put us at ease.
