Traffic Police Issues Road Guidelines for CSPOC Delegates: Urges Public Cooperation

In a bid to ensure smooth traffic flow during the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers (CSPOC), the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has called upon road users to exhibit consideration for delegates attending the prestigious event.

The conference, inaugurated by President Museveni on January 4th at the Munyonyo Speke Resort, has drawn an impressive international presence with over 43 delegations in attendance.

Among the distinguished guests is the Rt. Hon Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly, Joseph Ntakirutimana, attending as the host’s special guest in accordance with CSPOC rules. Delegations from various countries including Kenya, Grenada, Ghana, Maldives, Tonga, Malaysia, Mauritius, and Guyana, alongside high-ranking government officials such as Prime Minister Hon Robinah Nabbanja, have converged to deliberate on significant matters.

As the conference unfolds, Micheal Kananura, the spokesperson for the Traffic Police, emphasizes the need to accord priority to conference delegates.

He advises the general public to navigate the roads cautiously, adhering to road use restrictions and alternative routes outlined by traffic officers. Kananura further urges road users to comply with directives to ensure the seamless movement of delegates.

“The general public is advised to carefully use the roads and give priority to the conference delegates. There will be road use restrictions and alternative routes as directed by traffic officers, we thus appeal to all road users to comply with traffic police directives.” He said

The Traffic Police anticipates increased activity on routes leading to Speke Resort Munyonyo throughout the conference.

Kananura says to mitigate potential inconveniences, travelers with flights at Entebbe International Airport are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance as the Country continues to receive guests.

He said continuous updates regarding the conference and the upcoming NAM & G77+China Summit will be provided by the Traffic Police.

Kananura has called for patience and courtesy towards the conference delegates, recognizing the significance of the event.

The CSPOC, a platform for global parliamentary dialogue, sets the stage for collaborative discussions and diplomatic engagements among nations.
