Top UPDF Leaders Meet MONUSCO Force Commander Over Operations in DRC
The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi has met the Force Commander of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), Lt Gen Marcos de sa’ Affonso da Costa.
Meeting at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya, the two discussed issues on Military Cooperation and the joint operations between UPDF and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) against ADF.
The CDF assured the MONUSCO Force Commander of UPDF’s unwavering commitment to supporting regional peace and security. In response, the MONUSCO Commander, observed that the nature of security threats and challenges today including terrorism transcend borders and therefore require cross border collaboration and information exchange. He also expressed no objection to the ongoing joint operations by UPDF and FARDC against the ADF in Eastern DRC.
The meeting was also attended by the Joint Chief of Staff of UPDF, and other service chiefs.
