The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended their Principal Election Officer Robert Frederick Wakabi for rumor mongering among workmates over content from vital management meetings.
A letter issued by the acting EC secretary Leonard Mulekwa on August 5th, 2021 indicates that Wakabi who is attached to the Human Resource Department has been suspended for three months with half-pay starting today (Monday 9th August).

The letter adds that Wakabi needs to be investigated over “serious allegations” without his interference in the due course.

The Commission accuses Wakabi of disclosing information to a third party without authorization. He is also accused of making false statements and misrepresentations, which is likely to bring the Commission and the staff into disrepute, disrespect, and defamation as well as incitement of fellow staff with the intent to cause disobedience to undermine the administration.

It alleged that Wakabi has been the grapevine of the Commission, freely revealing vital information involuntarily to members of staff who are never part of management meetings.
