Three people have been confirmed dead and ten others injured following a fatal road crash that occurred on the night of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at around 9:00 PM at Wantoni Junction along the Jinja Highway in Mukono District.
According to a statement issued by traffic police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura, the accident involved four vehicles including a Mitsubishi Fuso truck and three Toyota Hiace vans as well as five motorcycles. The vehicles involved were identified as UBB 422U (Mitsubishi Fuso), UBP 359W, UAW 042E, and UAQ 398L (all Toyota Hiace vans). The motorcycles included UFL 976T, UFN 916P, UEU 698W, UDK 495B, and UDZ 777A.

“Three lives were lost on the spot, while ten other individuals including pedestrians, motorcycle riders, passengers, and drivers sustained injuries of varying degrees,” SP Kananura said.
The injured victims were immediately evacuated to several medical facilities, including Mukono General Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kawolo Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
All vehicles and motorcycles involved have been impounded and towed to Mukono Police Station as investigations into the cause of the crash begin.
Police have urged road users to exercise caution, especially in high-traffic and pedestrian-heavy areas such as Wantoni Junction.
