Three people sustained injuries in a serious road accident at Namboole flyover on Kireka-Bweyogerere road at approximately 6:30 a.m. on November 1, 2024.
The collision, reportedly caused by low visibility due to heavy rainfall, involved a Nissan Fuga (UBG 615A) and a Toyota Hiace (UAX 036F).
According to Traffic Police Spokesman Kananura Michael initial reports indicate that the Nissan, traveling from Bweyogerere, collided head-on with the Toyota Hiace, which was moving in the opposite direction. The crash left both drivers injured, along with a passenger in the Nissan, and ignited a fire in the Nissan shortly after impact.
The fire brigade responded swiftly, extinguishing the flames and containing the situation to prevent further damage. The Toyota Hiace’s driver was taken to Gwatilo Hospital, while the Nissan’s driver was transported to Nakasero Hospital for treatment.
The two vehicles have been impounded at Bweyogerere Police Station for further investigation.
With ongoing rainfall, Kananura has urged drivers to exercise extreme caution and consider waiting for improved visibility if conditions are challenging.
