Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police spokesperson says Sheilah, reported a concerning communication between Ssemfuma and the juvenile on WhatsApp, where the two agreed to meet at in the absence of the guardian.

Owoyesigyire says that the family to the girl instead acted swiftly, inviting Ssemfuma to their premises on January 13, 2024, where he was subsequently apprehended upon arrival.

He states that a police surgeon’s examination confirmed the well-being of the victim, as the alleged illicit activity did not take place.

“The case file has now been submitted to the office of the Resident State Attorney, and the Kanyanya Police is awaiting guidance on the next legal steps. The file is currently pending resubmission for official sanctioning, and Mr. Ssemfuma will face charges as determined by the Prosecution.” says Owoyesigyire
