Suspects Arrested for Robbing Victoria University Student in Rubaga

Three suspects have been arrested in connection to robbing from a University student in Nabulagala Zone, Rubaga Division, Kampala.

The suspects charged with assault and theft attacked one Arinaitwe Mackline, a student at Victoria University on August 22,2024 at 1:00 am.

According to Rusoke Kituuma, the Uganda police spokesman, the armed assailants forcibly entered Arinaitwe’s home. The attackers, wielding a hammer, assaulted Arinaitwe and stole her laptop, mobile phone, and academic transcripts. During the struggle, she sustained injuries while attempting to resist the assault.

Kituuma further states that as the suspects fled, they were intercepted by a police patrol team from Old Kampala Police Station. He explains that one of the suspects, identified as Mayanja Hassan, a 32-year-old resident of Kisenyi, was arrested at the scene while his colleagues managed to flee the scene. Hassan was found in possession of the stolen items and the hammer used in the crime.

Kituuma notes that the suspect cooperated with the police, leading to the arrest of additional suspects involved in the robbery.
