Stolen Rifle Discovered in a Kyotera Forest
In Kyotera District, an AK47 rifle suspected to have been used in a recent robbery was discovered hidden under the roots of a Kalittunsi tree in the Kibutamu village area.
The weapon, found wrapped in red cloth, contained no ammunition. The discovery was made by local youths who were clearing sections of the Kalittunsi forest in Lwankoni District. Upon finding the weapon, they promptly notified the Local Council (LC) chairman.
Twaha Kasirye, a spokesperson for the local police, revealed that the rifle had been reported stolen from Officer Afande Apangu Luke.
According to Kasirye, the gun was taken while Officer Luke was on duty, heading to provide security for the 2022 school examinations in the region.
Authorities are currently investigating the case to trace the individuals responsible for both the theft and the suspected robbery involving the firearm.
