The Anti-Corruption Coalition of Uganda (AntiGraft_SH), in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Tuesday arraigned in court one Mutabingwa Tonny for land grabbing.
Mutabingwa appeared before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraudulent procurement of a certificate of title and forcible entry.
Court heard that the accused, along with others still at large, allegedly forged court orders between December 2022 and March 2023. The forged documents were used to register themselves on a certificate of title for land comprised in Block 244 Plot 8328 at Kisugu, Makindye Division in Kampala City.
It is also alleged that the accused organized graders and a group of individuals armed with machetes to forcefully and violently cut down crops and trees on the land. They then graded and sub-divided the land before selling it off.
