The Stanbic Ongea creators summit has been hosted at Speke Resort Munyoyo in Kampala with a call from the leading voices in digital economy for young creators to monetize their content and contribute to financial inclusion, digital entrepreneurship and national brand visibility.
The call rotated around how to generate revenue from all the content through selling digital digital products turning digital presence into income streams by offering value in terms of content, services, insights to a target audience. “As regulators we are your Partners we are against people who are in this business to be hired to abuse people or do cyber harassment and it’s not sustainable and as Uganda Communication Commission we are willing to partner with Stanbic Bank and stakeholders to make digital creation a sustainable business”, said Nyombi Thembo the Executive Director of UCC and the Chief guest of the Summit.
The Stanbic Ongea digital creator summit is a partnership between the Stanbic Bank, Uganda Communication Commission, Ongea Africa and Uganda Digital Society designed to empower young creators with digital skills to learn how to commercialize their content and also empower them with responsible content practices and commercial opportunities. ” There is a great opportunity for the digital economy and a need to shift our mindset and Uganda is our market and we need to invest in the way we do this business and lets see how we can work together, said Mumba Kenneth Kalifunguwa the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank.
The Summit attracted creators, brands, Policy makers, educators, digital experts from across Uganda and also emphasized Uganda’s competitiveness in Africa’s digital creator landscape by enhancing digital and financial literacy, promoting responsible content creation, connecting creators to policy, business and financial support.
