SSP Kenneth Muheirwe Hands Over Entebbe Command
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kenneth Muheirwe, who has served for two years at Entebbe Central Police Station, has handed over his position to Stephen Twinomugisha, his former counterpart from Bunyangabu, also a senior superintendent of police.
SSP Muheirwe has been transferred to a new role as the administrator in the operations department of the Uganda Police Force.
During his tenure in Entebbe, he significantly contributed to combating gang threats, particularly in areas like Golf Lane and Victoria Mall, which had become insecure for tourists and revelers.
Muheirwe made notable strides in fighting gang crime and domestic violence in Entebbe through intelligence and the empowerment of community policing systems. Before he assumed command in Entebbe, locations such as Golf Lane, Victoria Mall, Manyago, and the Botanical Gardens had become hotspots for gang robberies, particularly by teenagers, with at least three to four cases reported weekly.
He was also a strong advocate for the welfare of police officers. Under his leadership, the construction of at least 120 police housing units commenced, and the police station’s appearance was improved, including painting the main building.
Entebbe had been plagued by land grabbing. During Muheirwe’s tenure, he actively engaged with other security personnel to prevent deployments in land matters, a stance that proved successful.
As he leaves his post, Entebbe residents continue to face minor challenges such as family-related land conflicts and phone snatching, particularly around beach areas.
