Speaker Among visits Renovated Entebbe Airport a head of 27th Commonwealth Conference
The Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among visited Entebbe International Airport today in preparation for the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth scheduled for January 3rd-6th, 2024.
She expressed satisfaction with the airport’s renovations, emphasizing its readiness to ensure a smooth arrival experience for COSPOC delegates. State-of-the-art facilities and meticulous planning have been implemented.
Addressing Heads of Mission and representatives of Commonwealth member countries, Speaker Among urged support for the conference’s success. She emphasized the importance of communicating Uganda’s readiness, the country’s security, and the conference’s benefits to fellow Speakers and Presiding Officers.
Describing Uganda as the “Pearl of Africa,” Speaker Among highlighted its comprehensive appeal as a destination in East Africa. Uganda, hosting the 27th CSPOC, sees itself as representing the entire region.
Uganda, chosen to host the conference during the previous CSPOC in Canberra, Australia (January 2023), will lead discussions on the theme ‘Diverse and inclusive Parliament, Youth and Gender Sensitivity,’ alongside the Parliament of Pakistan. The conference is set to take place from January 3rd to 6th, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
