The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, officially flagged off Team Uganda for the CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place in Accra, Ghana, from 23rd to 26th April 2025.

During a brief flag-off ceremony, Speaker Among encouraged the players to uphold the spirit of Pan-Africanism, discipline, and professionalism throughout the tournament.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sports through talent identification and infrastructural development. She also emphasized that Parliament will continue to prioritise the financing of sports to ensure its steady growth and success.

Speaker Among expressed her gratitude to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) for its crucial role in the development of sports in the country. She urged the federation to persist in nurturing players from the secondary school level and guiding them all the way to the national team.

Uganda will be represented by St. Noa Girls School in the girls’ category and St. Mary’s Kitende in the boys’ category.

A total of eight countries will compete in Ghana for the grand prize of USD 300,000. The runners-up will receive USD 200,000, while the third-best team will walk away with USD 150,000.
