The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among, is now a ‘Nalongo’ after putting to bed twins.
On Monday morning, rumours circulated on various social Media platforms of Anita birthing twins with her husband the FUFA president and MP for Budiope East in Buyende district Moses Magogo Hassim. The rumours suggested that the speaker delivered her bundles of joy in South Africa on Sunday.
Now, the deputy, Thomas Tayebwa, in a tweet on Monday confirmed that Among has twins.
He congratulated her on the successful delivery, saying, “With great Joy, I congratulate my brother Moses Magogo and my sister, the Rt. Hon Speaker Anita Among upon the double bundle of joy. You are now Ssalongo and Nnalongo. Congratulations once again.”
Anita Among got married to Moses Magogo in a private ceremony in Kampala in August 2022. Earlier, Among had officially introduced her fiancé in a closed-door ceremony in Bukedea District.
Pope Francis met the Speaker, Anita Among in Rome, Italy on 25th August 2023 as one of the many engagements the Holy Father on faith and religion. This would be the Speaker’s third visit to His Holiness the Pope after the others in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
During the meeting the Speaker confirmed to his Holiness the Pope that she was pregnant with child and asked for blessings.
