Six Arrested For Conning Ugandans Millions In Fake Jobs

Six people have been arrested in the western city of fort Portal and Rwenzori West for trafficking in persons.

The six have been listed as Lyndon mugumisiriza, a 22-year old, Aligonza Kenneth also 22yrs, Namisi Godfrey aged 20yrs, Namakoyo Esther 24yrs, Nafuna Rebecca and Nandudu Enida are believed to be co-ordinators and staff of a one Empowered Consumerism, operating under Dream visionaries in Africa.

The six would use a fraudulent employment and business scheme to lure and recruit there victims.

The police spokesperson Fred enanga said victims received calls from Namisi Godfrey and Namakoye Esther, inviting them for jobs in fort Portal.

“As a result, four victims mobilised and transported themselves from the districts of Mbale and Bulambuli up to fort Portal.However, when they reached fort Portal, they found no jobs and the Employers instead asked them to pay shs1.6million for membership and to recruit more victims through apyramid scheme.” Enanga said.

He also added that “The victims include; muyama phionah, a 29yr old student of buhatemela village, Bulambuli district, Napokoli Edwin a 20yr old student of buhatemela village as well, mutuwa Doreen, a 24yr old student from shikundu village in Mbale district and Nandudu Sophie a 20yr old student of buwaya village in Bulambuli district.

Enanga also added that the suspects are facing charges of trafficking in persons and will soon be produced before court. He further urged the public with information about a potential trafficking situation to directly call 0713 881798.
