Singer Kenzo Grateful for Role as Senior Presidential Adviser
Eddy Kenzo has addressed his recent appointment as the Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives, expressing gratitude to President Museveni for recognizing a “ghetto person” like himself.
Kenzo voiced his appreciation for the appointment, stating that it challenges the common perception of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Most people underestimate those who have grown up in the ghetto. However, it’s a great pleasure that the President sees it differently,” Kenzo said.
When asked about his future as the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Kenzo was quick to clarify his stance.
Despite the added responsibility of his new role, he confirmed that he would continue to lead the UNMF, noting that the two roles do not conflict and share a common goal.
Kenzo also took the opportunity to reflect on the state of Uganda’s entertainment industry. Before blaming the government for a lack of support, he urged industry stakeholders to engage in self-reflection.
He recalled that, in the past, prominent musicians would visit the President not to advocate for the industry, but to seek personal gain. He believes this self-serving attitude has hindered the sector’s progress.
Kenzo’s experience was different. During his meeting with President Museveni, the discussion focused on the potential of the youth and their role in nation-building.
