Shock has gripped residents of Buziga, an upscale Kampala suburb after news of the death of city tycoon Charles Muhangi spread.

Muhangi is a former rally driver and has been running a number of businesses in Kampala including owning Horizon Buses.

Details of the cause of his death are still scanty, but the police have dispatched detectives to rule out foul play.

Muhangi’s death comes at a time he was embroiled in wrangle with another businessman Drake Lubega over ownership of prime city properties.

Charles Muhangi became the first and the only Ugandan to win the Africa Rally Championship in 1999. He is best known to many for his ‘Ekitaguriro’ car.
