SFC Commander salutes President Museveni for visionary leadership
The Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), Maj. Gen. James Birungi, has saluted President Museveni for his visionary leadership.
Maj. Gen. Birungi was speaking at the 10th Marine Battalion Grounds in Entebbe Municipality earlier this week during a luncheon he hosted to welcome back 108 SFC soldiers after completing their one year call of duty in Somalia where they had been deployed as part of the peace-keeping mission in the Horn of Africa country under the leadership of Lt. Col. David Mugisha.
“I thank President Museveni for his visionary leadership. He has played a leading role towards solving challenges affecting African countries. I also thank the UPDF for its good planning and logistical support it gives to the soldiers not only in mission areas but also here at home,” said Maj. Gen. Birungi.
He commended SFC soldiers for the resilience and good conduct that they exhibited while in mission areas. Maj. Gen. Birungi also called on them to invest their savings in income generating ventures and avoid the vice of squandering them in non-profitable ventures such as buying cars or visiting bars.
He commended the spouses of SFC soldiers who always take care of the families of combatants when they are away on different assignments.
The SFC component Commander, Lt. Col. David Mugisha thanked the Commander of SFC for entrusting him with the responsibility of commanding the SFC soldiers who have just returned home at the conclusion of their tour of duties in Somalia. He was pleased that all the 108 SFC soldiers that he went with to Somalia have returned home safely.
Deputy Commander of SFC, Col. Peter Chandia, Col. Stuart Agaba who represented the Chief of Staff of Land Forces, SFC Directors and Commanders, among others, attended the ceremony.
