Police in Serere are currently holding a 38-year-old man, Osapa Moses for fatally stabbing his 22-year-old girlfriend identified as Asekenye Stella,
Osapa, a resident of Pingire landing site in Serere district killed the deceased on November 7, 2023.
The incident, which occurred at Karamajong village, followed a heated dispute between the lovers.
Reportedly, Osapa confiscated Stella’s clothes, leading her to retaliate by taking his solar panel. Although the local council (LC1) managed to mediate and resolve the initial conflict, tragedy struck moments later.
Fred Enanga, the Uganda police spokesperson says he went to his girlfriend and stabbed her in the right ribs with a knife. Asekenye was rushed to Serere HC IV, where medical personnel battled to save her life, unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries four days later, on November 11, 2023, around 8 am.
Enanga says the suspect attempted to evade justice by fleeing the scene but was later apprehended in Amakio village. The lovers had spent three months together, and the tragic turn of events has shocked the community.
