Senior UPDF Officers Bid Farewell to Brig Gen Victor Twesigye in Rukungiri

Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Liaison Officer at the East African Community Headquarters in Arusha in Tanzania, Brig-Gen Victor Twesigye is set to be laid to rest at his home in Nyarushanje in Rukungiri District this Saturday. 

The fallen General fell in the bathroom at his home on Thursday.

Brig Twesigye will receive a thirteen-gun salute, usually accorded to fallen army officers from the rank of brigadier and above.

His burial is being attended by senior UPDF officers, family members and a few friends due to the limitations of the coronavirus pandemic.

Some of the UPDF officers at Brig Twesigye’s burial include the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi, Maj Gen George Igumba, Maj Gen Gavas Mugyenyi, Maj Gen Dr Ambrose Musinguzi, Maj Gen Henry Masiko, Brig Baguma Mugume, Brig Richard Karemire, Hon Brig Francis Takirwa, Hon Maj Evelyn Asiimwe and Col Paddy Ankunda.

The deceased is survived by his wife Margaret Twesigye and three children.

Meanwhile, Brig. Twesigye’s death comes the death of three other UPDF Generals including Brig. Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe, Maj General Erick Mukasa and Maj General Kasirye Ggwanga.

Apart from Brig Twesigye who died following a bathroom accident, the rest of the Generals died at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala where they had been receiving treatment.
