Senior UPDF Officer Rescues Stranded Mother and Baby Abandoned by Boda Boda Man
The Director of Strategic Communication and Defence Engagement, Col Paddy Ankunda has rescued a mother who had just given birth and abandoned by a boda boda man who had been hired to transport her.
In a brief story shared on his Twitter account, the former UPDF spokesperson said that the boda boda rider abandoned the helpless woman after he realized the 2 pm deadline for the operation of boda bodas was imminent.
“She gave birth yesterday and was returning home. A boda man she hired left her stranded on the road as he had to rush to beat the 2pm deadline. I found her crying and have just dropped her home,” Col Ankunda tweeted.
Although he did not divulge details, Col Ankunda expressed happiness for putting a smile on the face of the initially sad and helpless lady.
“I feel proud that I have helped her. I left her smiling,” Col Ankunda said in another tweet.
His followers on twitter applauded him for his humility and kind heart.
Former presidential candidate and Makerere University Vice-Chancellor Prof Venansius Baryamureeba tweeted;
“So, we all agree that boda boda ambulances should be allowed to operate beyond 2.00pm. Security can always check and identify those carrying patients. Imagine if you had not come… Mr. Good samaritan? God bless you.”
Another user; @davidwoze tweeted: “Quarantine rules should not make us robots and less human. Boda boda should not have abandoned her but probably he was scared of his motorbike being impounded by some authorities who operate like robots and do not listen to the voice of reason. And this is becoming widespread.”
