Security Guard Killed in Nighttime Attack in Matugga
Aleme Emmanuel, aged 23 years, was a security guard deployed by Exodas private security firm.
Police in Matugga are currently investigating a case of aggravated bobbery and murder that occurred at Ssanga cell, Ssanga ward, Gombe division in the Wakiso district.
The victim, identified as Aleme Emmanuel, aged 23 years, was a security guard deployed by Exodas private security firm. He was stationed to guard the Net car wash parking lot at night.
During his shift, unidentified assailants attacked him, inflicting severe head injuries that ultimately led to his death. The attackers also managed to steal a red Bajaj boxer motorcycle, registered under UFZ 728 D, belonging to Waswa Gerald.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, police officers visited the scene and initiated an investigation. The area was cordoned off, and the scene was thoroughly processed and examined.
Owoyesigyire revealed that statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and the victim’s body was transported to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem examination.
Investigations revealed that the Net car wash parking yard, located at Ssanga center next to Quick fill petrol station, is owned by Ssemfuma Hussein of Katalemwa Matugga. Emmanuel was deployed alone, armed only with a baton, making him vulnerable to the attack.
The assailants took advantage of heavy rainfall to carry out their operation, gaining entry and exit by cutting the fence. Although no murder weapon was recovered, evidence suggests that more than one perpetrator was involved. Emmanuel was found tied in the mouth with a piece of cloth.
Owoyesigyire says clues regarding the identity of the suspects remain elusive. The attackers also attempted to steal another motorcycle, registered under UFZ-096, damaging its lock system with a pit axe.
He also notes that the police have commenced a hunt for the suspects, and investigations are ongoing.
